VOLUNTEERS
There are a few things that we need your participation in.
Decorate Anglada Bldg. – Thursday (Today) from 2-6pm – help us set up lights, balloons, streamers and tables for the GayLa La. Just show up and lend a hand.
GayLa La Cake Walk – A cake walk is a fundraiser that involves auctioning off cakes that are donated. We can’t have a cakewalk without you! It is all part of the fun of the “Gayest GayLa Ever” – so jump in there and show off your baking skills. Any cake of any size will work. You might even push boundaries and bake a cherry pie. Whatever it is – make it the “Gayest Ever”.
Car Washer Watcher – Sunday at 8am we need a volunteer to hang out at the parking lot at the start of the Devisadero Trail in Taos Canyon. If you aren’t sure you are up the the physical side of the Dyke Hyke – you can participate by keeping an eye on things.
Photographer for Events – We want to keep and share a few memories from this amazing weekend. If you are a shutter bug attending any event – let us know. You can contact Enrico by email with your favorite shots. etrujillo@gmail.com
Pride in the Park Setup/Cleanup – Head down to Kit Carson Park on Saturday between 8am and 10am to help setup the stage, greet vendors, and setup tents. At 5pm on Saturday – show up to help take down tents and make quick work of the cleanup.
PARTICIPATE IN THE FUN
The Drag Show on Sunday is the perfect time to dress up and top off the weekend with a little thrill. You might even win for the best costume/drag of the night. No, you don’t have to perform – just show up and have fun. Always wanted to do a tribute to Ziggy Stardust? Here is your chance! The antics on stage start at 7pm and the movie starts rolling at 8pm.

Robert Quintana, Gay Pride Taos founder and organizer, passed away unexpectedly August 9. Local police investigators indicate that there is no evidence of foul play surrounding the death. The New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner has yet to determine cause of death but indicates that an underlying medical condition may have contributed to Quintana’s sudden demise.
“Robert has been an inspiration to so many of us – friends and family alike – that we want to be sure that his dream, his vision for Taos Pride, lives on,” according to one of Quintana’s sisters. “We are working closely with Gay Pride Taos to ensure that the entire community stays connected and part of this amazing event he’s organized.”
Quintana’s family advises that funeral arrangements are pending and all updates will be posted on the Gay Pride Taos website.
Donations to defray funeral costs can be made to the Robert E. Quintana Memorial Fund at Centinel Bank in Taos, NM. Remaining funds will be used to sponsor scholarships in Quintana’s name for GBLT students in the local community.
